as per pageant insiders , the 2018 batch is one of the most beautiful group of girls to compete in miss earth. everyone involved in the pageant are actually very impressed at the quality of the candidates this year. i am glad the national directors followed the directive from carousel that since the theme for 2018 is " GODDESSES ", the girl to be sent should fit the theme. so voila, we have goddesses prancing and working very hard to be the ultimate goddess of the earth for 2018.
as difficult it might be to choose from among the 89 candidates, i am now going to share with all of you my favorites and standouts during the press presentation. i evaluated the girls based on beauty of face, fitness, presentation skills and walk, confidence and of course over all charisma. as they were presented via continents i will also choose my favorites by continent.i scored each candidate and here are the results, they are numbered based on which country garnered the highest score.
asia pacific :
1. philippines - celeste cortesi is just effortless, a certified goddess and the most beautiful filipina ever to compete at miss earth pageant. i can even say facially she is the most beautiful queen the philippines is sending for 2018 accross all pageants.she glides so smoothly , like a graceful swan , she doesnt need to overdo things because her beauty and stature are enough to bedazzle her audience.i am not sure about her fate , since it will be a stretch for another back to back, but nevertheless even if she doesnt win, she has already contributed so much to the miss earth brand by landing major endorsements from the biggest companies ,she has opened more doors for miss earth brand to explore and possibly cooperate with, a big achievement even if she doesnt have the international tile and crown on her head yet. celeste is not the typical overtrained,over rehearsed beauty queen, she is spontaneous, real,candid which makes her refreshing, relatable and very lovable.she has not been touched by the pageant bug that a lot of filipina queens have mastered mouthing tacky memorized lines and acting like robotic clones that to be honest is so relic and so passe.
2.korea - sohyun song is an asian goddess with the softest , most delicate features, she is also very tall and has a great body. she is very charming and has such a delightful pleasing aura, makes you smile and giggle when you see her.
3.vietnam - phuong kahn nguyen is one of the strongest vietnamese candidates sent to miss earth. she is integral and is competitive in all areas of pageant department. she has a very sweet face, very fit, well toned body and most importantly she speaks english something almost all vietnamese candidates sent to miss earth have a hard time with.
4.indonesia - ratu vashti might be the indonesian lady who can break the continuous nonplacement of indonesia eversince it joined in miss earth. ratu has prepared wholeheartedly and she is coming on strong . although facially other girls may edge her out but she compensates with great body, excellent catwalk skills and she has that tropical xfactor that makes you notice her in a group of beautiful girls. she is also well spoken and has a great personality.
5.new zealand - jzayla hughey is a pleasant surprise, i never thought she would be this gorgeous until press presentation. she has the best body in asia pacific region. she has a very exotic beauty that is unique and remarkable. she performed excellently and im impressed.
other notable girls in asia pacific region that can cause an upset are japan and guam. theres been a lot of hype for nepal, some fans even private messaging me about her,sorry for nepal fans, the theme is goddess not earth warrior, so NO.
americas - this is why i prefer the semicontinental, the americas is filled with super competitive girls it would be heartbreaking to limit them to 4 spots. i do hope carousel productions listen to the fans, the semicontinental is the most fair, most sensible and most rational system that can be used for any pageant.it gives the best 10 girls a chance to make semifnals irregardless of continent and at the same time cover diversity with the 8 places designated for continental placers.
1. venezuela - diana silva is the strongest and most complete miss venezuela since alyz henrich won in 2013. she embodies what a true miss venezuela should be, beautiful,intelligent, a stage master and always knows when to slay and make a mark. when she is given a stage to perform on, she annihilates the competition, which is exactly what happened at the press presentation. she was a standout and she had the best performance , with celeste cortesi and her tied with a 9.8 rating from my scoresheet.one thing about diana is her sincerity and humility, you can feel it in her and you can sense she will deliver at the most important stages of the competition. she may get venezuela's third miss earth crown in 2018.
2.puerto rico - krystal xamairy has that warm and open personality that has been lacking in the puerto rican delegates recently sent to miss earth.she has a perfectly chiselled face chameleons into different looks and she is one of my favorites to get a crown. she exudes this down to earth and easy going aura that makes you want to get to know her even more.although she is not very tall, her well proportioned body makes her look taller and of course that sunny personality makes her even more attractive. puerto rico is placing this year and one of the crowns might be a big possibility for krystal.
3.mexico - melissa flores has prepared for this pageant 200 percent. her team has moved mountains in order to give melissa the best chance to clinch the first miss earth crown for mexico. she was in manila long before the other candidates arrived undergoing training at the kagandahang flores beauty camp.it paid off as melissa has vastly improved her confidence , strut and her over all look as well. shedoesnt photograph very well, but in person she is very stunning and you can see from her moves she is ready to fight for the crown.
4.ecuador - diana valdivieso may look meek and timid in interviews but during the press presentation she burned that runway with those luscious curves and long long legs.there is a reason why she won over the huge favorite in hernational finals, diana is a force not to be messed with onstage.
5.colombia - valeria ayos i dont find very attractive facially, but she did deliver on press presentation a very calculated cool cat performance which captured the crowd.she has a very long lithe structure with just the right amount of curves.she deserves a high score thats why she is in my top 5 in the americas.
6.peru - jessica russo is classically beautiful, she has a girl next door look that can easily take over the sometimes overwhelming divas onstage. she has a quiet confidence but when it matters she can amp up the sexy factor that could give the frontrunners a run for their money.
7.canada - jaime vandenberg natural beauty at its finest with soft womanly curves and angelic face to top it off. she is under the radar by most fans but she has everything to get a very high placement , she is well spoken , knows what miss earth is all about and has a delightful personality, lethal combination to cause an upset on most of your favorites.
8. argentina - dolores cardoso just captivates you with her very positive presence and radiant aura. i was pleasantly surprised and yes she is beautiful, hot and classy at the same time.
9. panama - diana lemos is similar to colombia , she is not facially the most beautiful but she makes it up with fierce performance and eye catching presentation.
10.guyana - xamiera kippins also came very well prepared and she is not going to let this oppurtunity to bring the name of her country onto the semifinals for the first time in miss earth history.
africa
1.cameroon -audrey monkam is definitely the most beautiful in the african continent this year. lovely face, very tall, toned body ,very calm and pleasant aura. she needs to learn how to do her hair though, get tips from miss nigeria and miss sierra leone.
2.nigeria - maristella okpala is the fiercest african and the most prepared. she has everything prime from hair ,make up ,outfits plus training. she has one of the best bodies of the whole competition and has awesome stage chops.
3.liberia - joicet fuday is an african goddess blessed with the most toned body in the whole competition.
4.reunion island - alexandra aupin has a very young innocent vibe. she is so cute and very pretty.
5.sierra leone - alma nancy sesay the balck and gold swimsuit and accessories glimmeered in contrats to the gorgeous ebony skin of miss sierra leone. she looked amazing during press presentation and was glowing the whole time.
europe is another continent which is such a headache to choose the best because this continent has sent the most beautiful faces in this years pageant. it was a struggle to break the ties because there were three ties while giving them scores, so i tried to come up with a top 10 and it took me two days to do it deciding who to take out due to the several tied scores.my wish is for the crown to go to europe and there are about 5 european girls this year who are so worthy to win the main crown.
1.poland - alexandra grysz has been my favorite eversince her national pageant and now that she is competing , she is proving all the naysayers wrong . she is the most complete and the strongest european to me this year. she has everything and more to win the main crown and bring back the title to europe and win the first miss earth crown for poland. she is very beautiful, especially in person her beauty is multiplied 100 times. she has international celebrity moviestar like qualities. she can be amazing on the red carpet of any international event , yet she is a humble queen who can also get down and dirty, clean the beach, plant a tree she wont have a problem with that too.she is my ultimate bet, a true goddess of beauty but at the same time she is very well spoken,intelligent , highly educated , wants to win the crown and she has a good attitude that will blend well with the organization and its staff.
2. northern ireland - christie van schalkwyk looked like she stepped out of a sports illustrated magazine when she came out during press presentation. total blonde goddess and happy to see she worked so hard on her body i could see abs, well done christie so proud of you.
3. portugal - telma madeira has been preparing for this moment for more than a year and prepared she did. she improved 100 percent from last year thanks to all her tireless work and of course with the help of her national director miss earth brazil 2014 leticia silva. telma posseses one of the most beautiful faces this year and her walk is amazing now, compared to last year its like a complete turn around. that is dedication right there, i think telma has the motto "go hard or go home" , she really did prepare very hard and the results are glaring right before everyones eyes.
4. netherlands - margaretha de jong together with poland are my two favorites for the crown. margaretha is a genuine european stunner with the face that could launch multimillion campaigns and body sculpted to prefection. she is also very intelligent and works very hard on charitable causes, a perfect imprint for a great miss earth queen. she has to maintain her confidence level and take it all the way to the top 4 and possibly the crown.
5.cyprus - maria armenaki i dont know why no one is hyping this girl, she is a no nonsense goddess through and through. this 5'11" stunner has that natural fresh unassuming gorgeousness that is so endearing. venus the goddess of beauty was thought to have come from the cyprian sea, so its fitting maria got her traits. she is very tall, amazing body, naturally beautiful face and such a darling , no pretentions kind of attitude, love her.
6. slovenia - danijela burjan is a runway dynamo that literarally dropping bombs of sexiness everywhere at diamond hotel during the press presentation. this bombshell knows how to play her cards onstage and she sure knows how to be the alpha when it comes to allure and enticement. take all the fanstastic performances away and you have a beautiful woman who wants to make a mark for her country. go danijela , we are rooting for you!!!
7.spain - carolina jane is saccharine beauty , the type of beauty that will do well in philippine telenovela. she has a serene and gentle aura about her that makes her relatable and approachable.
8.serbia - nina jovanovic serves face with raw sensuality that is so sexy. blame it on her balkan blood, she naturally exudes hotness and voluptuousness that is so irresistible.
9.montenegro - katarina seckovic is another balkan beauty oozing with sexiness and pizzazz. she is very tall with one of the longest legs in the pageant. she also has this natural flair about her that is so lovable you want to hug her.
10. italy - sofia pavan is a glamazon at 6 feet tall , but wait she has such a quriky personality that is so adorable you just cant help but be drawn to her. body is on point and she has the classic mediterranean look that could be a threat for the semifinals. she also is very determined joining miss earth italy thrice before winning the crown and finally she is her within our midst. she is my sentimental favorite, go sofia!!!
now for some tidbits, miss lebanon is currently under investigation due to the trending issue about her photo with miss israel. she was being dethroned by her director and forced to quit the contest but carousel is not letting her go home yet. clarification and further investaigation is needed . as of now she is still in manila until a final decision is made. as for the glamshots , there was news circulating about it being used for voting and the winner will be one of the top 18, i asked carousel and they said it is not confirmed yet. they still have to decide what to do with the glamshots, well if it was up to me use it for miss photogenic or miss earth people's choice award.the photos came out amazing and the concept i was talking in previous post, well it was not done this year. maybe in the coming editions they will be able to do, would be a brilliant idea.
